and more

Today when I went to pick up Andy, his little face lit up with joy when he saw me. This has never happened before. Usually, when reunited, he looks a bit peeved. I can't tell you how encouraging this is, that he rejoices to see his mama.

Over lunch, we were counting who loves him. We did Mama and Papa and Juliana and the two sets of Grandparents and the Aunt and Uncles (10 thus far) and then moved onto the pets, who are mostly paired. To my utter shock Andy said 12, 14, 16!! Counting by twos? We didn't teach this. All we have taught is the names of numbers, not even the shapes of the written number. Andy: boy genius.

In other news, we received the children's certs of citizenship in the mail this week, so know I can apply for social security cards and then passports and then, at last, make the trip to IKEA! My nearest IKEA is in Canada, just north of us.

Suzanne, isn't it closer to go to Seattle? We are getting IKEA in Portland next year, they have started building it 5 minutes from our house, can you say excited!!

5 minutes? We would be bankrupt!

Nope, IKEA Seattle is in the southern part of the Seattle metropolis. We are on the northern fringe of the City of Subdued Excitement. I can see Canada from my window. The Richomnd store is too far, but the Coquitlam one is about 39 minutes away.

I love it that Andy was excited and happy to see you - such a milestone for both.
Ikea - wish I had one in a near vicinity. The closest one to me is a sea and plane ride away!
Better for my wallet I guess :)

Suzanne, the best thing is they have a GREAT play area. My girl is just now old enough to go in.

I'm very close to the Ikea in Renton. I also feel its a little maze like and that I'll never make it out.....

I remember that first sprint to Canada after getting my girl's passport. I haven't gone since! Yikes.
